You can choose to start by discovering the local markets, including one of the largest in the region, that of Yssingeaux on Thursday mornings, about ten minutes from the house.
Many local festivals and celebrations also take place throughout the year, but a few of the larger ones are worth mentioning...The Classical Music Festival at La Chaise Dieu of course, at the end of August, but also the famous Medieval festival of the Roi de l'Oiseau at Le Puy en Velay in September, the Country and Western Music Festival in Craponne sur Arzon at the end of July, the Brass Festival in Monastier sur Gazeille in mid-August, and, in another style but for your relaxation too, the Laughter Festival in Yssingeaux in early September.
